Scholarships for 2011 entry
Academic Scholarships are awarded to qualifying students who are aiming to study at CATS College – in London or Canterbury – before entering the UK’s Top 20 Universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.
Scholarship awards of up to 20% of tuition fees are available for suitably qualified students wishing to study:
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma at CATS College Canterbury
- all programmes at CATS College London
All Scholarships are merit based and students are assessed against the criteria set out below.
Scholarship Criteria
Scholarships of up to 20% of tuition fees are offered for the first year. The exact amount of scholarship awarded is at the discretion of the Scholarship Panel. In exceptional circumstances, the Scholarship awarded may be higher than 20%.
A first-year scholarship is based on the following assessment is based on a combination of the following factors:
British / US / Australian students
- Outstanding school performance across all subject areas with a particular emphasis on relevant subjects to be studied at CATS College.
- A face-to-face interview to explore motivation to study the course. Interviews can be set up via Skype on request.
- A Mathematics assessment using the CATS College Entry Test for Mathematics with a score of 75% or above.
International students
- Outstanding school performance across all subject areas with a particular emphasis on relevant subjects to be studied at CATS College.
- Good level of English as assessed by CATS College English Language Assessment Test.
- A face-to-face interview to show English language ability and to explore motivation to study the course. Interviews can be set up via Skype on request.
- A Mathematics assessment using the CATS College Entry Test for Mathematics with a score of 75% or above.
Second year Scholarships
Second year Scholarships of up to 20% are available subject to a student’s satisfactory progress. In exceptional circumstances, the Scholarship awarded may be higher than 20%.
A second year Scholarship is based on the combination of factors from the criteria below.
British / US / Australian students
- Target grades achieved for the first year of the programme.
- High attendance rates in college (minimum 90%) and meeting all the criteria set out in the Contract of Achievement.
International students
- Demonstration of an improvement in English level to an agreed target score.
- Target grades achieved for the first year of the programme.
- High attendance rates in college (minimum 90%) and meeting all the criteria set out in the Contract of Achievement.

IMPORTANT
Scholarship students are expected to act as student ambassadors for the relevant College. As such they will be expected, as a condition of their Scholarship, to attend events such as exhibitions and student visits after joining one of the Colleges. Agreement to use their stories and testimonials in future marketing activities is also a condition of the scholarship.
